Choosing ERP software is not about the longest feature list. It is about whether the system can express how your business actually works — and whether the supplier will still be around when you need a change.
Start with the workflow, not the feature list
Write down the journey of a single sales order from booking to cash received, and a single purchase from indent to payment. Anything the software cannot express on that journey becomes a manual workaround later.
Insist on a data migration plan
Opening balances, product masters, party balances and stock quantities must be migrated and verified. Ask for a reconciliation sheet before go-live.
Check the reporting reality
Ask to see a customer ledger, a recovery ageing report and a profitability report produced from the demo environment. These three reports reveal more than a long demo script.
Plan for customisation
Some customisation is inevitable. Agree in writing what is included, what is chargeable and how future changes are handled.
